PADDY DRYER FOR RICE MILL

Kilburn has designed and manufactured a new Dryer for Pre-Drying of Paddy befor LSU Dryer. This offers radical advantages in drying of Paddy and increases overall capacity of the rice mill by 80%.
The increase in capacity is because Kilburn dryer reduces the surface moisture of parboiled paddy from 36%to 20%  in a continuous operation within a few minutes, as against a few hours in a conventional dryer. Thereafter the moisture is reduced slowly to 12 % in the LSU dryer.
Kilburn Paddy Drying system offers several advantages over the conventional dryer in terms of increase in capacity of the rice mills, reduction in product breakage, increase in equipment life and minimal maintenance.

Kilburn Paddy Dryer is supplied with steam* heater, hot air blower and exhaust fan with dust collection system.
Kilburn dryers are in use in leading rice mills with proven advantages.
Paddy can be processed either as raw paddy or parboiled Paddy.

Kilburn provides three systems for:
   A. Parbolied Paddy (Basmati & Non Basmati Rice)
   B. Raw Paddy
   C. Ageing Raw Paddy

* Other Heat Source can be use

 A. KILBURN CONTINUOUS STEAMING AND DRYING SYSTEM

FOR PARBOLIED PADDY-BASMATI ANDNON BASMATI RICE

(Patent Applied For)

There after the paddy at 32% moisture is fed into first vibrating fluid bed dryer, where the paddy is kept in suspended stage and the moisture is reduced to 22%. This paddy at 22% moisture is fed into second fluid bed dryer where the moisture is reduced to 16% and is then fed into third fluid bed dryer where the moisture is further reduced to 12-14%.

However, in case of Basmati Rice, the moisture is reduced to 22% using the static and first Vibro Fluid Bed Dryer and further drying is carried out in LSU dryer upto 12%. The static and vibratory fluid bed dryers are supplied complete with inlet air fan, steam heater and exhaust system.

B. KILBURN CONTINUOUS DRYING SYSTEM FOR RAW PADDY

       (Patent Applied For)

THE PROCESS

The raw paddy is passed through continuously into the steaming tank where it is steamed and fed into the Vibrating Fluid Bed Dryer at uniform rate at 22% inlet moisture. The paddy is kept in suspended stage and dried to moisture level of 16% in the first dryer. The paddy at inlet moisture of 16% is then fed at a uniform rate into the second Fluid Bed Dryer and kept in the suspended stage to reduce the moisture content to 12-14%. Both the Vibrating Fluid Dryers are supplied complete with inlet air fan, steam heater and exhaust system.

C. KILBURN CONTINUOUS HEATING  AND COOLING SYSTEM FOR

AGEING RAW PADDY

(Patent applied for)

THE PROCESS

This system comprises of continuous heating and steaming unit Vibrating Fluidised bed cooler. The cleaned raw paddy is steamed in presteaming tanks and fed into Kilburn Continuous Heating and Steaming unit wherein it is heated indirectly by using steam. The steam is also introduced inside the unit to increase the moisture level for ageing. The Heated paddy is then fed into a Vibrating Fluid Bed Cooler where it is cooled to room temperature. This paddy is finally dried in a LSU dryer.
