A measured
quantity of wet grated coconut is fed onto a specially
designed stainless steel perforated vibrating plate, mounted
on an aerodynamically designed plenum chamber. The entire
assembly of plenum chamber and perforated plate is suspended
on leaf springs and vibrated with an eccentric shaft drive.
Hot air from the heat source is sucked in and forced through
the plenum chamber by a hot air blower.
In the first zone, hot air removes most of the
moisture. Cold air is then introduced in the second zone
by a cold air blower to reduce air temperature. Two sets
of Cyclo-refirers, mounted on top of the dryer casing, exhaust
wet air and separate product fines. The fines are re-charged
into the dryer and finally collected in cyclone seperators
placed adjacent to the dryer. The dried and free-flowing
desiccated coconut is discharged from the other end of
the dryer at the room tempetarture.
ADVANTAGES
Apart from
being fuel efficent, Kilburn VFBD produces Desiccated
Coconut with a very low Allowable Plate Count (APC), Low
Total Viable Plate Count (TVC) and low coliform compared
to Desiccated Coconut produced on conventional dryers.
Desiccated Coconut produced on Kilburn VFBD is used by
internationally reputed companies for manufacture of high
quality confectionery, chocolates and associated food
products.
